Mad Hatters Tea Party
The Hats We Wear, the Roles We Play
“Have I gone mad? … I’m afraid so. You’re entirely bonkers.
But I’ll tell you a secret. All the best people are.”
— The Mad Hatter
Yes, we know. August in Cape Town is notoriously cold. The duvet will be calling and the couch will not be taking no for an answer.
However, here is what we are offering instead: a proper tea party. Think steaming pots of tea, something delicious to eat, great company, a room full of warmth (literal and otherwise) and a morning that will stay with you long after you have thawed out.
This August, Braving Boundaries is doing something a little bit wonderland and entirely worthwhile. We are swapping the ordinary Saturday morning for an extraordinary one: a Mad Hatters Tea Party where the theme is not nonsense (well, not entirely) but something far more interesting.
WHO ARE YOU, WHEN YOU TAKE THE HAT OFF?
We all wear hats. The professional one, the mum one, the capable one, the easy-going one. We have been wearing some of them for so long we have forgotten they are even there. This workshop is about looking at those roles honestly: which ones still fit, which ones are ready to come off and who you are underneath all of them.
It is going to be thought-provoking, creative, deeply personal and, we promise, genuinely fun. Come for the tea and scones. Stay for the revelation.
What we will explore together
- The roles and identities we carry and the ones that no longer quite fit
- Why stepping into a new version of yourself can feel so uncomfortable (and why that is actually a good sign)
- The courage it takes to change and how to do it without losing yourself in the process
- What it means to show up as who you are now, not who you have always been
What to expect
- A warm, welcoming space with tea, nibbles and proper wintry comfort
- A short, practical talk to ground the morning in real tools and insight
- A hands-on creative activity to bring your intentions to life (details under wraps – but it’s a good one)
- An intimate group of people ready for some honest conversation
No creative experience required. Come as you are, though if you feel like embracing the theme, we will absolutely not object.
